Werewolf history

The wolf was never the point. The neighbour was.

Almost every European werewolf trial ends the same way: a person the village already disliked, a confession taken under torture, and a printed pamphlet that sold the story across the continent. This is where that began.

The Werewolf of Bedburg was a farmer, and the wolf survived him

Peter Stumpp was executed with a wheel and a red hot pincer. Four hundred years later his pamphlet is the reason we still say werewolf.

What this is

Where Wolf is an archive of the werewolf as an actual historical event, not a monster movie. Each piece takes one documented case, quotes the source that recorded it, and says plainly what the court believed, what the accused confessed to under torture, and what the village got out of it.

No gore for its own sake. The record is frightening enough without help.
